Norwich Research Park
Europe's centre for research in health, food and environmental sciences
The Norwich Research Park is a collaboration between the University of East Anglia, the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, and three independent research centres; the John Innes Centre, the Institute of Food Research, and the Sainsbury Laboratory. With over 9,000 people the Norwich Research Park has one of Europe’s largest single-site concentrations of research in Health, Food and Environmental Sciences.
We are internationally recognised for the excellence of our research in the plant and microbial sciences, food, health, environmental sciences, computer and information systems and chemistry. An analysis of the most highly cited scientists in the UK over the past 20 years reveals that Norwich is ranked 4th after London, Cambridge and Oxford (New Scientist, 1 July 2006/Thomson ISI).
Norwich Science is recognised for its agenda setting climate change research at the University of East Anglia and plant and microbial research at the John Innes Centre. These organisations have formed the Earth and Life Systems Alliance (ELSA) which seeks innovative solutions to the huge challenges to the natural, agricultural and social environments being brought about by climate change. The strength of Norwich Science in food and health research is located in the Norwich Centre for Preventive Medicine - a collaboration between over 35 research groups from across all partners on the NRP.
The NRP is home to a growing number of science and IT based companies making the NRP a vibrant place to do business as well as research.
The NRP Office acts as a first point of contact for enquiries coming into and from within the NRP. We facilitate collaboration between researchers on the NRP and support their engagement with business and the public.
